Armored Core 6 Everything We Know So Far

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon Lore & Setting

" Handler Walter verified. Activating cerebral Coral control device. "

Armored Core VI unfolds its narrative on the distant world of Rubicon 3, where a groundbreaking energy source called "Coral" holds immense potential for humanity's technological advancement. However, the unexpected emergence of "The Fires of Ibis," a catastrophic event, ravages the planet and its neighboring star system in a blaze of destruction. Half a century later, Coral resurfaces, prompting humanity to once again seek dominance over this enigmatic resource. Assuming the role of C4-621, an augmented human codenamed "Raven," players step into the shoes of an independent mercenary and skilled Armored Core pilot. Under the guidance of the infamous interstellar handler known as "Walter," Raven undertakes missions from extraterrestrial mega-corporations while confronting resistance factions vying for control over the recently rediscovered Coral.

Rubicon 3 & Coral's Origin

" A Coral response from the generator. Watch out. "

A groundbreaking resource that determines the technological advancement of Humanity. The discovery of such material not only provided immense breakthroughs to humanity but also harbors destruction to the human race and to the planet. Judging by the recent trailers, clearly, the planet's condition already withered down greatly and is close to dying due to the catastrophic event known as the " Fire of Ibis " that engulfed the planet in fire. The origin of the said material, the Coral, is yet unknown at this point. It is likely an extraterrestrial substance or material that found its way into human hands.

home2 armored core 6 wiki guide min

After the cataclysmic event, Coral emerges again and major corporations want their hand on it, for their advantage. Controlling the Coral material means controlling everything. From power, wealth, and influence. Thus Armored Core pilots were hired to secure the said material with their lives as hired guns. It is questionable where humanity resides in Rubicon 3 rather than what's left of it. They were likely forced to live underground due to the harsh weather conditions on the surface.

The Armored Cores (ACs)

" Callsign Raven. Priority subject on termination, high on the list. "

The Armored Cores or what we call ACs are huge mechanized vehicles designed for combat, exploration, and reconnaissance missions. A highly versatile machine that became the primary tool of Interstellar Companies in the world of the Armored Core Series. They are versatile not only in movement but also in all shapes and forms. Due to their parts that can be highly customizable according to the pilot's needs and combat style. An AC can take a form of a tank, humanoid, quad-legged, or reverse-legged. Each form has its strength and drawbacks. The majority of the Mercenaries own an Armored Core and each of them is unique and deadly.

home13 armored core 6 wiki guide min

Not just it can traverse land, sea, and air, it can also take advantage of any kind of weaponry available in the market made by manufacturers. A vast array of weaponry can be observed and any type of modern weaponry that humanity knows of is available. Ranging from small handguns, assault rifles, cannons, laser-powered rifles, blades, missile launchers, and more. making the deadliest weapon that humanity can ever make perfect for war and mercenary missions.

The Dying World & Interstellar Companies

" Let's see how far they can fly. On borrowed Wings. "

Rubicon 3 is the planet where Armored Core 6 will take place. A barren industrial planet filled with different types of pieces of machinery that looks like gathering raw resources from the planet. Sucking the planet dry for business' sake. By the looks of the planet's state, a solid type of government is absent and it is likely that major companies or what we call Instellar Companies run the planet. Judging by the name these company tyrants also run other planets under their influence.

home4 armored core 6 wiki guide min

Suddenly, these companies set their eyes on Rubicon 3 due to the resurgence of Coral and they want to get their hands on it. It is yet to be confirmed as well if these Interstellar companies are also the ones who sell Armored Core Weapons and Parts to mercenaries like you. These companies are also the major clients of Armored Core pilots and these pilots will never question their intentions and do their bidding.

The Protagonist, C4-621

" Augmented Human C4-621 has Awakened. "

Players will take control of C4-621, an Augmented Human, a mercenary, and an Armored Core Pilot. In Armored Core 6, C4-621 was hired and directly reports to Walter. An Interstellar Handler. It is yet to confirm C4-621 motives at this point. As an individual mercenary, his loyalty to Walter is questionable. Given the fact that C4-621's mission is to retrieve the newly surfaced Coral. This same goes for the other mercenaries hired by other corporate tyrants. Will he complete the mission?

home29 armored core 6 wiki guide

Or possibly keep the Coral for himself? Hiding behind the call sign " Raven " means anything is possible judging from the previous installments.

Gameplay Mechanics in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon

High-Speed Action & Combat Basics

The greatest strengths of the Armored Core series aside from its immense customization features, are its high-speed and fluid traversal and combat. Expect players to be always on the go with their trusted Armored Cores against relentless battles with basic but treacherous mechanoids who stands as a guard in an area. Sentries that are willing to destroy you once you engage with them. Judging from previous installments, these mechanoids serve as the basic enemies however they come in groups and can easily overwhelm your Armored Core if not careful enough. Armored Cores have a higher ground compared to these primary mechanoids due to the Armored Cores' state-of-the-art weaponry and architecture. Being superbly advantageous, Armored Cores can wipe out groups of these mechanoids, making them the best tool for destruction. Players can expect constant barrage from these mechanoids and maneuvering for survival is key. Leading to its fast-paced action. Expect exhilarating encounters with raining bullets and missiles while you strive to survive and retaliate. Maneuvering on the other hand will not be that difficult thanks to your trustee booster and energy source. Maneuvering and avoiding enemy fire will be difficult if done on foot.

home8 armored core 6 wiki guide min

Thus Armored Core's main asset to survive is its booster and generator. Players will abuse using the Armored Core's Boosters to dance through bullets and missiles. We emphasized the battle experience that the mechanoids will provide how about the battles between Armored Cores? As a mercenary, players will go up against other Pilots that own their special Armored Cores as well. They may help the protagonist reach his goal or do the opposite. Major companies also directed their own mercenaries to go up against you thus it will be a survival of the fittest. Aside from Boss Battles, Armored Core battles can showcase the gameplay exceptionally well. Due to the fact that both parties have the same level of strength and capabilities in terms of weaponry, speed, and defensive maneuverability. A flashy battle of strength and wits to determine whos the better pilot at the end of the day. Players can expect Armored Core Battles when playing through the main scenario quest between missions. A word of advice, this will be a difficult game, especially for newcomers. Players will be thrown into intense Loadout Management, and Energy Consumption Management while protecting their Armored Core to Survive.

Ultimate Customization

It is a trademark of the series in giving its player base immense and unimaginable freedom in customizing their Armored Cores. This is the greatest strength of the series. Being able to express one's playstyle in the form of these Mecha Tyrants called Armored Core is a huge plus and a joy to play with. Players will have the option to choose from a vast array of weapon selections and parts. As mentioned previously, weapons that we can expect from the game are ranging from handguns, rifles, missile launchers, blades, shields, cannons, ammo packs, pile bunkers, and more deadly weapons. Note that these are just types, each of the weapons I stated has its own variants such as weapons that fire solid or laser-typed rounds. Armored Core parts such as the head unit to the leg part are interchangeable as well to match any kind of playstyle. It is worth noting on the other hand that each setup or loadout has its plus and drawbacks. A good example would be an Armored Core that adopted Tank's legs. This Armored Core would be very slow in terms of movement speed however, it can carry the heaviest equipment out there, especially those devastating shoulder cannons, that a humanoid Armored Core would find difficult to carry due to immense weight.

home11 armored core 6 wiki guide min

Not only these tank setup Armored Cores can carry big guns, but they also boast the highest defense in the game however, they are more open for attacks hence the reason for having a thick defense. On the contrary, humanoid typed Armored Cores are versatile. Indeed it will be hard for them to carry heavy weaponry like cannons, they have the lightning speed to outsmart any opponent who stands in their way. With a limited supply of ammunition, players who used these types of Armored Cores are usually veterans. While it is expected to have low to mid-defense power due to the light to moderate frame equipped to them. On the other hand, it's not just the type of parts that players can customize but also the overall aesthetics of their Armored Cores. Change the Armored Core's paint job on the fly to add personal touches. Know your playstyle and build the Armored Core of your dreams and seize victory.

Manufacturers, The Tools of the Trade

In the previous titles, the main source of equipment is weapons and parts manufacturers. It is likely that Armored Core 6 will have the same format since players can still gather credits after completing missions to buy parts. Although it is not confirmed that you will get your wares from manufacturers, judging the economy of Armored Core, it will be implemented the same in the latest installment. These Manufacturers offer a wide variety of weapons and parts and each of the said manufacturers specialized in certain fields like providing better laser-type weapons, better generators, better frames, and better optional equipment. It is the player's responsibility to determine the said edge of each Manufacturer and used it to their advantage to get the right parts.

Replenishing Loadout Mechanics

Armored Core 6 introduced a brand new mechanic in the series where players will be given the chance to replenish their load-outs. According to recent information from FromSoftware, strategic checkpoints were placed on the battlefield. When players managed to find the said key points, they can have a breather and restore their ammunition. Ammunitions servers a pivotal role in the Armored Core series, however, Repair Kits were also introduced in the game and this is massive. As the name implies, in these restore points, players can also replenish their Repair Kits. Treat this as your Estus Flask from the Dark Souls series or Flask of the Crimson Tears from Elden Ring. Never in the series that players could repair their Armored Cores and this serves as a good mechanic that may help newcomers in the series enjoy the game and have a little bit of a leeway. We cannot stress how important these Restore Checkpoints are since we had countless runs and encounters of not having enough ammo or Armored Core HP to complete missions in the past.

Intense Loadout Management

All throughout the Armored Core Series, players are thrown into a steep loadout management system where managing resources such as ammunition determines the player's overall success. A wise and strategic plan for using resources in battle is a must depending on the threats the players encounter on each level. Mastering enemy placement is key as one can conserve ammunition by eliminating a weaker mechanoid with a laser blade sub weapon for example. If you think one can go guns blazing upon entering an area, this tactic will only go so far. Strategize, plan your course of action carefully, know your enemies, and master the battlefield.

Energy Gauge Management

Energy plays a pivotal role in Armored Core 6. Energy is the very essence that the player's success relies on so he or she can live to see another day. Armored Cores rely on boosting, to traverse and explore areas, cross through bodies of water, and most importantly dodge bullets and missiles. Without Energy and Boosters, Armored Cores can't maneuver like a hound or dance like a bird in the air. The total pool of Energy of an Armored Core is determined by how good its equipped generator is. While the boosting power is determined by the quality of the equipped booster.

home10 armored core 6 wiki guide min

In Armored Core 6, we have yet to determine if players can still alter their boosters for better performance. In the recent demos, we've only observed that the Generators are the only ones interchangeable. Strategically managing the said energy pool, determines the player's success in reaching a certain destination or even dodging enemy bullets. Mindlessly boosting will only deplete your energy pool and once depleted, your Armored Core will be unable to boost and forced to travel on foot, opened for incoming attacks.

Stagger Mechanic

Stagger Mechanic is just recently introduced in Armored Core 6. According to the recent information that we received, Armored Cores, both the player and enemies will have their own Stagged Gauges. This gauge will deplete once a target receives damage. Once the gauge depletes, the Armored Core will be unable to move, open for catastrophic damage. It yet to be confirmed how the weapons in the game affect the said gauge but in our experience in the series, this gauge will be heavily be affected or depletes quickly after receiving constant damage or getting hit by powerful weaponry such as Laser Blades that can quickly stagger enemies, or solid rounds from cannons and more. Depleting the Stagger Gauge of the enemy and making your target suffer afterward is a viable strategy. In the past, there were a lot of weapons that makes Armored Core overheat, leaving them not able to use boosters. In Armored Core 6, we believe that there will be a special type of weapon that focuses on depleting the Stagger gauge.

Exploration

This is a FromSoftware game thus, expect an intricate level design with a lot ample amount of space to move around. With the Armored Core's capability to traverse in a wide 3D space at high-speed, a level design with a tremendous amount of space was needed thus players can expect broad industrial factories, cityscapes, long underground tunnels, fortified bases with limited spaces, and more. It is worth noting that during each mission, the developers stated that there are a handful of ways to reach certain points in the game, adapting to the player's Armored Core design.

home12 armored core 6 wiki guide min

Immense freedom was granted to the player's hands thus the level design should follow. For example, for players who specialized in ground combat and decided to create a tank-like armored core, there is a wide variety of grounds to cover and reach their destination. If the player designed an Armored Core adept in Aerial traversal, the sky is his to play with.

Player VS Player Experience

This is where the community will shine. With the immense freedom to customize even the rarest Armored Cores setups out there, the PVP experience will be rewarding and refreshing for those who will participate. Imagine the creativity that the players will express on the battlefield. Minds will clash with one another, proving whose setup is better. FromSoftware is known for its interest in keeping their PVP player base fresh by giving them ample materials to work on and even in their old games, the player base is thriving up to this point. What more in Armored Core 6? Rest assured they will bring their expertise as well and expect online leaderboards that players can dominate.

Rewarding Boss Battles

The Armored Core series is known for its creative but deadly bosses. From small to enormous bosses that will not handhold any player who will try to beat them. Bosses come in many forms in Armored Core. An AI-controlled Armored Core with special augments, making them hard to beat, or enormous bosses loaded with heavy weaponry and rain down bullets upon you. Each of these bosses will have their weaknesses for players to find out and exploit. Expect different types of Bosses that will surely keep players on their toes. Bosses in Armored Core are the ultimate gates in the game where the skill of players will be tested to its limits. This is the avenue where the game check if the player properly grasps the game's mechanics, the same thing to FromSoftware's staple titles like Elden Ring or the Soulsborne Series.

The Garage

At this point, we all know that Armored Cores, these mechs of death are highly customizable to cater to the harsh environment of Rubicon 3. Not only Armored Cores need to perform in different terrains, but they also need to adapt to the environment where their mission objective will be held. Before tackling these life-threatening missions Armored Core Pilots reside in their safe havens called " The Garage ". In The Garage, players will have the ability to do all of the customization needed for their Armored Cores. Judging from past designs, in previous Armored Core titles, this is where players shops for parts and weapons. The Garage is also where AC pilots receive their missions or houses intel about their objectives. We have yet to determine what other features may The Garage will provide but certainly it is the player's main hub and will continue as it is as tradition. Since we are tackling the garage, let us examine the Armored Cores Parts and know their general use.

An armored core consists of the following parts, Head, Core, Arms, Legs, Booster, FCS, Generator, and weapon loadout. It is worth noting that in Armored Core 6, some of the parts in the previous titles were removed, making the customization a little bit streamlined. In the past players still need to check the Radiator for cooling purposes, Hanger Weapons that can cater to both defensive and offensive measures, and lastly the Inside Parts which can provide utility. These parts were removed in the latest installment while they also simplified the overall stats of the Armored Core. These changes may receive polarized criticism, especially from long-time fans since tinkering with these complicated stats is part of the joy of playing Armored Core in the past. Let us take a look at each part. There is no such thing as a not important part of an Armored Core. All of its parts serve a purpose and if one breaks, the player will fill its side effects right off the bat.

Note that all of the information here is subject to change when the full release comes. All of the information we listed and gathered was based on careful observation of released materials for Armored Core 6.

Head

The significance of the head unit has increased greatly compared to previous games, as it now influences the unit's shock absorption, weapon accuracy, the effectiveness of scan mode, and movement speed. It serves as the main tracking point of your AC or the main camera that the pilot used for visuals. In the game, players can expect different types of head units like a head unit that looks like an antenna and further boosts radar range.

Arms

The Arms serve as the primary parts that hold weapons in both arms and shoulders. The player has the freedom to equip 4 weapons in total or exchange a weapon slot for a utility-type part instead for certain purposes. There are different types of Arms, aside from the humanoid type. In the past players can observe that AC arms were converted to weapons directly. No physical arms are included but a huge pair of weapons are slotted as arms instead. These weapons fall under the category of arms still.

Core

Indeed every part is important in an Armored Core but the Core is the one that holds everything together. Thus, we can conclude that this is the most important part of an AC. The Core greatly contributes to AC's AP or HP in layman's terms. Along with its overall total defensive stats, same thing with AC Legs. Each Core in the game has its special abilities that make every core unique and it varies per playstyle depending on the need. An example would be a Core that allows an AC to over-boost to a great distance in a short period.

Legs

Same thing with Cores, the Legs contribute greatly to the total defensive stats of an Armored Core and its AP. The common type of legs is humanoid type ones. This type of Leg is versatile and can traverse basic terrains from land, bodies of water, and air. One to mention is that there other types of Legs such as Tank Legs, Quad Legs, and Reversed Legs. Each of them has its strengths and weaknesses and great varies depending on the desired play style or need.

Booster

Boosters allow Armored Cores to greatly cover great distances on land, sea, and air. Flying and gliding through structures and zones are the primary way of AC transportation. In combat, the life of the AC pilot depends on the AC's boosting capabilities. Not only do they use boosters for transportation but use their boosting capabilities to dodge enemy attacks and maneuver on the battlefield. Players can observe a handful of Boosters in the game, each of them has edges and weaknesses to cover.

FCS

FCS is the part in the Armored Core series that determines the lock-on time and capabilities of an Armored Core. This is an internal part and cannot be seen normally. An example of this is a lower tier FCS makes locking on missiles on multiple targets abysmally slow. A good FCS grants the players the ability to hasten the process and locking on missiles to a handful of targets will be a breeze.

Generator

The main engine of an Armored Core. It gives power to ACs and determines how long the Energy Gauge will be. The longer the Energy Gauge, the longer the AC can use its boost and stay in midair. In Armored Core 6, they removed Radiators which are a staple part of the series. Instead, Generators can now cool on their own.

Expansion

This is a new part introduced in Armored Core 6 and no information has yet to surface that defines its optimal usage. As an AC enthusiast, Expansions will likely serve as Hanger Units since they were removed. Hanger Units are weapon or utility extensions thus, this is the closest part that you can compare to what Expansions will be.

Armored Core 6 Weapons - Units

As previously mentioned, this is where a vast array of weapon types selection comes in. Aside from the number of parts in the game, the number of weapons that players can explore is massive. A massive list of different types of weaponry, made for different kinds of situations makes the gameplay of the Armored Core Series compelling. The versatility and the level of intricacy are unimaginable. Ranging from the smallest guns, rifles, cannons, mini-guns, laser blades, shields, ammo packs, missile launchers, and more. Since not that much information to properly explain how each type works, we will provide a brief explanation or a general idea of how the weapon system works in an Armored Core, especially its loadout. An Armored Core can carry four weapons in total. If the player can micro-manage the AC's total weight wisely.

Right Weapon Unit

In standard Armored Core design or build, right-hand weapons usually serve as the main weapon. Weapons that can be equipped here range from any type. But the usual build uses mid to heavy types of weapons such as machineguns, hand cannons, laser or solid rounds type of rifles, mini-guns, shotguns, and even pile bunkers.

Left Weapon Unit

The left arm can carry sub-weapons such as handguns and shields. It is worth noting that if the weight permits, players can use identical weapons in both arms while the left arm is being used to equip powerful laser blades for melee combat. Find the right combinations to your liking according to your playstyle. Shields were emphasized in the demo and useful when battling in tight spaces. It is interesting to know how it will perform in AC vs AC battles.

Left and Right Back Units

Back units are being attached to the AC's shoulders, allowing them to take advantage of more weaponry in combat. Back Units are devastating arsenals that usually range from Gatling guns, long solid-type rounds cannons, plasma cannons, quad missile launchers, and more. While all the said parts cover the offensive side, players can also explore a handful of utility-oriented back units that improves various abilities of an Armored Core. Such as an increase in Radar Range, augmented boosters, turning speed augments, and more.
