Armored Core 6 is diverging from the open-world exploration by FromSoftware games but instead, will be following the design of previous Armored Core Titles. For the latest installment, Armored Core 6 will be featuring a mission-based structure by introducing Chapters that will be further divided into missions. The story narrative is tied to the said missions and pivotal events will start to unfold when players reach a certain story progression.

How do Missions work in Armored Core 6?
Missions in Armored Core 6 are tasks given to players that will help progress the story of Augment Human C4-621. Each mission begins with a briefing from Handler Walter that will guide you on the objectives of your mission.
After completing a mission, players will receive COAM rewards, which is the currency used for upgrading and buying Units in AC6.
Can I explore during Missions in AC6?
Armored Core 6 will be different from recent FromSoftware titles in terms of exploration. Just like the older and other titles, Armored Core 6 follows a mission-based structure so exploration is minimal.
Players will be sent on Missions to explore different locations, areas, and environments but only in a limited allowable area. Players will be given guides and markers to follow throughout their mission that will indicate their next objective or so. Armored Core 6 will not be featuring an open-world exploration but focuses instead on a 3-dimensional exploration wherein players are free to go about the environment however they like it.
What can I get for doing Missions in Armored Core 6?
The story progression of Armored Core 6 is tied up with the Missions and Objectives of Augmented Human C4-621, which means that each time you complete a mission, your Main Story campaign will progress. FromSoftware announced that there is a minimum of 100 hours of gameplay and the mission count is expected to be around 80-100. Completing missions will reward you with COAM, the currency used to buy and upgrade Units for your mech. You will also potentially unlock new features or parts that you can purchase after completing missions. Do note that the costs of the ammo you expend during a mission and any repairs from damage taken are always subtracted from the mission's base payout.
Apart from the COAM rewards you get for completing missions, some missions offer opportunities for bonus pay, either for destroying specific enemy units or by taking out additional targets such as fuel tanks. It's essential to take advantage of these opportunities when they present themselves to make sure you're never short on currency.
What are Combat Logs in Armored Core 6?
Combat Logs are collectibles you can get by defeating specific enemies in certain missions. These enemies will have a combat log icon next to their AP gauge and will appear once you target them. Mostly special enemies like ACs and other tougher MTs will have these combat logs, and you'll acquire these logs by destroying these targets. You can also find combat logs on regular enemies but you would have to fully explore certain areas during the mission to find them.
These combat logs will also help you increase your Hunter Class rank. Reaching a new rank in your Hunter Class will reward you with unique parts that you're not able to acquire through other means besides collecting combat logs. There are 4 types of combat logs: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The tougher enemies like ACs will have the platinum combat logs which will also offer you the highest increase in your Hunter Class.
Are there companions or allies during Missions in AC6?
Armored Core 6 focuses on a single-player campaign, however, there are select missions that you will be ordered to set out with ally pilots. This information will be explained during the briefing and before a mission is selected. During allied missions, your teammates will be in constant communication and they will help you to complete the objectives of your missions. This is done so players can get assistance from NPCs, while the game can retain a single-player experience.
What is the flow of missions in Armored Core 6?
While on a mission, your Handler will be in constant communication with you and will be sending you guides and markers to help you complete missions. Simply follow the orders of your handler and the missions can be completed in a very straightforward manner.
To begin your missions, select them in the Main Menu, select which AC you will be using, and then the briefing will begin shortly after. After a cutscene, players will be taken to the starting point of the mission. Missions in Armored Core 6 will be following a similar format wherein players will land in an open field and then the objectives will go deeper into the area and enter more confined spaces, but some will remain in an open field fight with bigger bosses.
What are" Decisions" in Armored Core 6?
As you complete missions and progress through the main campaign, you will eventually unlock multiple missions labeled as a "Decision".
These are conflicting missions due to your potential clients having opposing goals, and this will force you to choose only one between the conflicting missions. You are allowed to look at the overview of each mission and watch the briefing to see what the mission entails. Once you complete the marked missions, some missions will become unavailable on your current playthrough.
Can I replay Missions in Armored Core 6?
Yes. It is possible to replay a mission in Armored Core 6. After completing a mission for the first time, you will unlock the option to replay the mission, simply go to the Replay Mission menu and select the mission. You can replay missions to earn more COAM, find collectibles you've missed out on, or get a better mission ranking.
When you replay a mission, you can also repeat the mission briefing but you won't be able to watch any cutscene or conversation that may have occurred during your first playthrough of that mission. You also won't be able to affect progression by making different decisions from your original playthrough of that mission.
Can I customize my Mech while on a Mission?
Simply put, the answer is both yes and no. While on a mission you simply can't customize or change your build. However, if you die while on a mission, you can change your build before respawning.
This will allow players to change their build accordingly when faced with difficult Bosses, and they will be able to make adjustments on-the-fly. On the other hand, players may also change their build before heading out into a mission by accessing the Garage.
