OS Tuning or Operating System Tuning is a feature in Armored Core 6 where players can upgrade and expand their AC's offense and defense abilities. This is one of the methods to improve your AC's abilities or unlock powerful features that can further improve your AC's combat potential, OS Chips will be given to players to use in the OS Tuning menu and can respec the OS Chips in case players are not satisfied with their build, but with a price.

What is OS Tuning in Armored Core 6
OS Tuning is one out of 2 features in Armored Core 6 for players to enhance their AC's offensive and defensive abilities. These abilities directly benefit players in combat and gameplay strategy, all of the abilities in the menu can be unlocked and upgraded with OST Chips that players can acquire through the Arena. Players don't will not get access to this feature right when getting into the game, whereas they will need to complete missions to unlock both the OS Tuning menu and the Arena.
How to Acquire OST Chips in Armored Core 6
In order for players to unlock the abilities and features in the OS Tuning menu, they will need OST Chips. Players can acquire OST Chips by participating and gaining a victory in the Arena.
The Arena, just like the OS Tuning is unlocked after players complete either 05-A Retrieve Combat Logs or 05-B Investigate BAWS Arsenal No.2. Players can access the Area through the Garage. There will be various leveled AI controlled enemies that are registered on the Rubicon. Due to the various levels of enemies, players will also start on the lowest rank.
A total of 98 OST Chips can be collected from the Arena on the first playthrough. More can be earned in subsequent NG+ cycles.
Core Expansions in Armored Core 6
Core Expansions are abilities players can manually trigger in the game to benefit their offense or defense any time they see fit. However, there are limited charges, so players will need to strategically plan when they will need to use them. If a Core Expansion has multiple charges, a cool down will appear on the used charge.
Can You Respec OST Chips in Armored Core 6
If players find that they are not satisfied with their current allocation of their OST Chips or want to better prepare themselves for a new mission, players are allowed to respec their OST Chips and re-allocate them as they wish. However, it cannot be freely done, as it will cost players a certain amount of COAM to respect their OST Chips. The more OST Chips a player has, the more expensive it will be to respec their OST Chips.
How to Unlock OS Tuning in Armored Core 6
Players will need to complete either 05-A Retrieve Combat Logs or 05-B Investigate BAWS Arsenal No.2, to unlock OS Tuning and Arena. Once one of those is completed, players will get to go to the OS Tuning menu and look through the various abilities they can unlock to further enhance their AC.
Unlockable Abilities in OS Tuning in Armored Core 6
Players will have 4 menus for their AC's overall offense and defense to upgrade and expand. The 4 menus are System Unlocks, Core Expansions, Attack Control, and Damage Control.
System Unlocks are advanced features for players' AC, mainly for combat mechanics. Each of the following abilities can be unlocked in the OS Tuning Menu.
- Boost Kick: Closes the gap between players' AC and the enemy with a high-damage and high-impact kick-boosted kick.
- Weapon Bay: Allows players to be able to equip and swap out weapons easily.
- Weight control: Allows players to carry more than their load limit, but can later get rid of the weapons as they run out of ammo gradually decreasing the weight of players' AC.
- Manual Aiming: Allows players to have full control of where they choose to aim instead of using the built-in aiming system in players' AC.
- Quick Turn: Allows players to quickly turn to and quickly aim at enemies.
Core Expansions provide offensive or defensive abilities that are limited in usage so players will need to make sure to strategize when would the best time be to use them. Each of the following abilities can be unlocked in the OS Tuning Menu.
- Assault Armor: Allows players to send out a pulse explosion from their AC, this will deflect incoming fire as well as dealing damage to those around you.
- Pulse Protection: Allows players to deploy a stationary shield that players can use when in need.
- Pulse Armor: Similar to Pulse Protection, however the size of the shield is smaller and it creates a barrier around players.
- Terminal Armor: Similar to Pulse Armor, however, the shield will automatically deploy if the player's AC's AP is completely drained.
Attack Control allows players to use their specific weapon types to their fullest potential. Each of the following abilities can be unlocked in the OS Tuning Menu.
- Kinetic Weapons - Fire Control Tuning
- Explosive Weapons - Fuse Control Tuning
- Energy Weapons - Output Control Tuning
