AC6 STEEL HAZE / V.IV Rusty Boss Fight Strategy

The Best Frame Parts, Units, and other builds to defeat STEEL HAZE / V.IV Rusty.

  • STEEL HAZE / V.IV Rusty uses a high mobility Schneider NACHTREIHER AC equipped with an AG-T-005 HOKUSHI generator, FCS-G2/P05 fire control system and ALULA/21E boosters. As such Rusty tends to use his high mobility to maintain a short engagement distance, dodge the players attacks and quickly close distance to use his laser slicer melee weapon to cause or punish ACS Overload's. Even when the player can maintain spacing, his burst rifle and pistol can output steady damage and ACS Strain at a variety of ranges when dual wielded and his plasma missiles can maintain steady pressure on the player which is only helped by the smaller arena you fight in

  • While lighter AC builds will struggle to manage ACS build, Rusty's weapons struggle to output enough impact to build significant ACS Strain on heavyweight builds

  • When using melee or low velocity and/or single shot weapons, Rusty will be able to easily dodge most if not all attacks the player throws at him and will need to drain his EN to score consistent hits.

  • Rusty's AC has poor attitude stability leading him to suffer from ACS Overloads when consistent damage is dealt to him. Using high impact weapons can help to cause repeated ACS Overloads and deal substantial damage

  • While his melee attack can be devastating when landing, it also leaves him open to attacks as he remains mostly stationary after the initial strike is made

STEEL HAZE / V.IV Rusty Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Vvc-774LS Laser Slicer Used when maintaining a close range to Rusty or to either cause or punish an ACS Overload, the latter of which typically triggers a fully charged combo attack Maintain distance and manage ACS Strain. Although the initial charge can cover a large distance and tracks well, follow up attacks cover almost no distance and can be avoided by back pedaling with quick boost's when possible
Boost Kick Although rare, its mainly used to close distance and cause an ACS Overload when the players ACS Strain is high Lateral or backwards quick boost's
MA-E-211 SAMPU Burst Pistol Used persistently throughout the fight. Although lacking in raw damage, it can maintain and/or build ACS Strain fairly consistently on lighter weight AC's

Use strafing or lateral quick boost's to avoid. Outside of 165m the weapon will ricochet off even lightly armored AC's

MA-J-200 RANSETSU-RF Burst rifle Either used similarly to the SAMPU in single fire  or using the charged burst attack when equipped Use strafing or lateral quick boost's to avoid the single fire. Although the warning for the charge attack is extremely short, it's still possible to dodge with quick boost
Vvc-703PM Plasma Missile Launcher Launches a burst of 3 plasma missiles that have standard tracking and can deal AOE damage Use lateral quick boost's to avoid the missiles. Staying airborne while dodging prevents the AOE from having any affect

Dialogue

Introduction:

Go deal with a mercenary who went in alone, they said... Figures. Seems both of us are too dangerous to keep around. And the higher-ups wouldn't miss an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Hate to say it, but... Rubicon still needs me. So, buddy. Who needs you?

During Fight:

I don't want to dance to their tune, but this time, I don't have any other choice. I'm coming, buddy.

I know you can do better than that.

You never change. You're not afraid to die... or to kill.

...This has been a real eye-opener. You're strong—a threat...!

You're sharp... but that's not the only thing that makes you dangerous. I fought alongside you several times, but I never could figure you out. Tell me, buddy. What drives you?

After Fight:

Never failed to impress... But this isn't over yet... Buddy. There's no graver threat than power without purpose!
