Full Retrieve Combat Logs Walkthrough
Mission Description
I'm a Coral Warrior, just like the others! And I will not give in!" — Little Ziyi
Having themselves failed to reach the top of the Wall, Balam is seeking information about the Vesper who partnered with you in your successful assault: V.IV Rusty. To this end, they’re tasking you with retrieving at least five (but potentially up to eight) data logs scattered around the map relating to him and his AC, STEEL HAZE. To avoid clashing with incoming Arquebus reinforcements, you’ll only have four minutes to complete this job. If you have at least five logs when the time runs out, the mission will be counted as a success, and collecting all eight will end the mission immediately. Keep this in mind as there’s an optional AC fight that rewards you with a combat log, and it’s easy to accidentally end the mission before defeating it if you’re not keeping count.
The only other enemies in the mission are some light MTs and guard mechs, but the area is expansive so you can’t afford to stop and fight if you want to retrieve all of the logs. Acquiring all of them is highly recommended because while your base pay is only 10,000 COAM, you earn extra bonus pay for each log, up to a total of 123,100 COAM for all of them. None of the enemies give bonus pay, so you only need to focus on defeating the ones that pose an immediate threat.
Recommended Assembly
This mission will require you to race against time, so it's recommended to have a build that prioritizes speed over survivability. We're sticking with the HI-32: BU-TT/A since it gives you a light but high-damage option, this is especially useful if you intend on fighting the boss AC, YUE YU/Little Ziyi for the combat log. If you don't plan on fighting the the boss, you can swap it with a machine gun instead, this way, you don't need to constantly stop moving when firing. With the VP40S, you can gain an advantage on your defensive specs without compromising your speed. This will also help you absorb incoming damage while moving. A nice increase to your overall boost and Quick Boost speed is the BST-G2/P04. This will make things easier to hit all of the objective locations in time and combined with the DF-GN-02 LING TAI, this will make sure your EN comes back as fast as possible. If you've already completed the mission Investigate BAWS Arsenal No. 2 and you have access to the Arena, you may want to consider earning some OST Chips and unlocking "Access Speed—Optimization" to reduce the time to scan the wrecks.

Retrieve Combat Logs from Wrecks
For this mission, you would need to collect at least 5 Combat Logs in under 4 minutes for the mission to be completed. From your starting point, you will see two combat logs directly below the building complex you're standing on. You can look for a burning plume of smoke to quickly identify the wrecks. The first combat log you'll find as you drop down is a System Log named "One-Sided Engagement".
There will be multiple guard mechs in the area but you can quickly take them out with your missiles. Once you've extracted the data you'll receive 5,000 COAM. The other combat log is near a street beside a building, this one is a Text Data named "The Well Dries", extracting this data will give you 1,000 COAM.
At the outskirts of the wall, you'll find more combat logs. The first one is a Video Record named "STEEL HAZE", extracting this data will give you 10,000 COAM.
As you approach this wreck, you'll be targeted by a group of light MTs from the cliffs, you can use your missiles to take them out one at a time as they enter your range. It's recommended that you take them out first before extracting the log as it is dangerous and you'll likely take a lot of damage from incoming fire.
As you travel farther from the walls, you'll see another two wrecks close to each other, indicated by the burning smoke. There's a Comms Record named "Friendly Comms" that will give you 2,000 COAM and a Video Record named "Communication Attempt" that will give you 20,000 COAM upon extraction.
There will be some guard mechs and light MTs in the area, start picking them off as you approach by using your missiles, then finish off the ones remaining with your pulse blade.
If want to collect more combat logs for bonus rewards, you can go further down the crater, there are two more combat logs there, one is a System Log named "The Deserter" that will give you 100 COAM upon extraction.
The other one is just across, it's a Comms Record named "Rusty's Encoded Comms" and it will give you 35,000 COAM upon extraction.
Be careful as you approach the second one because the AC YUE YU/Little Ziyi will drop down and attack you from above the surrounding cliffs.
YUE YU/Little Ziyi will have a Gold Combat Log. If you've managed to collect at least 5 combat logs before you engage with YUE YU, you have the option to not fight her and just wait until the timer runs out for the mission to be completed. But if you wish to take her on, you'll have to take an aggressive approach.
YUE YU has relatively low AP, but she's slightly mobile and you'll notice this as she'll constantly be moving around and try to keep you within mid-range whenever you approach or disengage from her. If you're able to get close enough, use your pulse blade to disrupt her shield. Once the timer runs out, regardless of whether you've destroyed YUE YU or not, and if you've collected at least 5 combat logs, the mission will be completed

Alternatively - if you're looking to collect all 8 logs and eliminate all enemies before time runs out - go for reverse joints, double plasma cannons, and double missile launchers. Use assault boost to quickly go from one log to the next. Plasma cannons easily one-shot all common enemies, and can effectively hold ground against the AC as well.
light fast chicken mech with handgun, sword, and 4 missile launcher, can defeat the AC early on
